Christmas Decoration

Starting to put out my Christmas decorations has me thinking back to when I first moved out.. I had nothing borrowed a table for the kitchen and was given a couch for the living room but it did not fit because of the apartment I was renting was the top level of a house.. so all we had was a bed and a kitchen table not that it mattered I was not much of a cook when I first moved out...lol.. Now I have so much stuff I have to pack some goodies away so that I can fit out all my Christmas goodies.. As many of you know I am a collector of others hand mades and I have quite a few... My home is starting to look like our Primitives Shop... I can remember when I did not have a lot of furniture that matched and what not but over the last 20 years since I first moved out I have made my home a quaint little primitive home.. I keep adding as the years go by.. I know the day is not far away from when my son will be leaving home to start his own adventures.. I will help him like I was helped when I moved out, give him our old furniture and what nots.. I can't believe were I am from were I was...lol... Time sure does fly by...

So on I go putting up my Christmas decorations and sing jingle bells over and over.. lol.. I am a Christmas nut.. I have more space to fill since we have added some new primitives pieces to our home.. So I told hubby I need to buy some more creative pieces from my long inspiring artist..

The Show is Over

I made it.. lol.. The show was a success... a little slower on Sunday but still had a great turn out... I love to watch my repeat buyers come in and find there goodies... one of my favorite customers is a young lady that bounces as she comes in the store... She knew right what she was looking for when she came in this year.. then changed her mind and purchase BOO cat (soft in the head pattern) and a snowman head on candle Stick (Back Porch Pickins Pattern).. I had the honer of going to another customers home on the way back home.. I got to see all my goodies on display... That was so neat.. I am now back home busy getting my home back in shape..

I am also very happy to announce that I will be on Simply Primitives with all my gal pals.. I am so honored to be on there..

Stockings

Santa's Large Elf Boot

This prim stocking has been made from muslin fabric that has been painted red. The tops of the stockings are trimmed in aged curly fleece. Prim greens, berries, and moss have been tucked inside the stocking. A battery operated tealite it tucked in front of the greens. Rusty jingle bells go down the front of the stocking. The boot and bells have been sprinkled with Mica. Measures 20 x 7. A special thanks to Dee of Ginger and Company for her patterns.

Had to Higher Some Help

As many of you know I am getting ready for our yearly fall show.. I have been sewing and cutting and stuffing like mad.. I now have three weeks and I know that seems like a lot but it really isn't.. I wish we had 36 hour days.. Anyways my son is always in need of money so I decided to offer him min. wage to work for me.. Today was his first day, I thought for sure he would give up but he put in a sold 5 1/2 hours @ 8.90 an hour.. so of course we had to go out and spend his earnings.. lol.. He has plans to work with me tomorrow and a couple hours a night during the week.. stuffing is a little tricky for him but he turns my stuff out, and gets them started with stuffing.. I stuffed all day with him.. we have lots done .... I will post pictures of new things done soon..

Time to hit the hay ..

Early Mornings

6AM.... and my day begins... these early mornings are killer on me.. My son started high school this September.. School hours start at 8:15 so he has to leave to catch the bus at 7:30... my son is not a get and go kinda boy... my hubby gets up at 5AM to leave for work at 6AM when I get up... After I get showered I wake my son up.. I get a 5 min shower while he takes forever.. While he is in the shower I am making him his breakfast fruit smoothie and rye toast... After breakfast I get to style his hair.. he is my little Zack Efron.. he has the same hair style so that takes some gel and lots of blow drying.. I know I must be nuts.. but it is high school.. lol.. then I make his lunch and send him packing... Now it is 7:30 AM and my day begins... It is hard to get started on my dolls this early so I usually finish my fruit smoothie and have some toast and start work about 9AM... when 3 roles around I am beat.. almost need to have a nap but my son is home then so I have to make sure he is getting started on his homework... then it is time to prep supper.. this is when I wish that I had a chef as I am not in the mood to cook and while I am getting ready for this fall show I definitely don't want to cook.. I like it to be fast and easy supers but that is hard now when we are eating healthy.. Me and my son started eating better in May and have stuck with it and both of us have dropped 20lbs each.. YEAH!!!! we both feel so much better... Today we are off to the dentist for our cleaning, I don't mind cleaning... Well I should be off and start my day.. many things to do.. and not much time left to do them in.. just wanted to touch base to let you know I am around... PAM teach me how to get my pets to work for me ( Pam of Soft In the Head)...

Making More Changes

Well as you all know I started moving my work shop up stairs to were my son use to sleep.. (he is now downstairs)I thought I had it all done but as I was making up dolls and getting ready for our fall show I was finding this small space getting smaller as I had no shelves.. so below are pictures from were I started to were I ended up..

This is were I use to be in the basement..

Here is my shop upstairs in my son's old room.. I put up shelves for my paint and extra goodies..

I hung a shelf and about another 3 that I do not have pictures of.. it was okay but the coach was really a waste of space.. so I decided last night that I wanted to take the coach back down to the basement and bring up my shelves from the basement..

And here we are.. all done.. most all of my goodies from the basement are up here now..

Tuesdays Work

I have been absent from my blogging for a wee bit.. I have been busy moving my workspace upstairs, and now that I am settled in I have been working hard and getting dolls traced, sewing and stuffed up.. Trying to also get ready for our fall show that is not that far away... I spend my night hand stitching up my tea towels... I had plenty I thought done up in the store but we are done to only a few left.. so my fingers have been very busy and very sore...

And I started this wall hanging this afternoon ... Ambitious I know..

Megan's Story

I just read about Megan's Story on Kelly Rae's Blog. I feel for her and want to do all I can to help... I have always felt so bad about the health care system in the United States... I think health care should be first on the list of options that the government step in and pay for... I live in Canada and our health care is paid by ohip.... A few years ago the government implemented that we give a percentage of our paycheck to our health care system to help out.. I have always thought that the US Government should do this.. Please help if you can..

I am so happy today ... Jane DesRosier now has a face painting course.. I have taken many online art classes and have loved them all.. I have been hoping Jane would teach and yeah I found out today she is.. now that I have the drawing down I can learn the painting.. I have always wanted to be able to paint like how she is teaching.. I have enjoyed taking all of her classes she is a great teacher.. I am now enrolled in two of her classes and Suzi's goddess class so I am going to be one busy lady for a while...

GROWING UP WAY TO FAST.

My baby is growing up so fast... He is going out with girls this week.... Girls!!! Oh no... I thought I had a couple more years..... Growing pains.. not for him but for me.. Anyone know how to keep them little..

MOVING ON UP

I spent this past week moving my son to the basement and me up to his old room..

I was struggling so hard to get motivated down in my dungeon and had started working up stairs at my kitchen table ... Day light sure helps...

So I took the plunge and decided to move my son to the basement...

What a job this was...

Here is my new working room.. I am so in love with it.. if you scroll down through my old post you will see were I was before.. My basement has gotten smaller but it is still really full of all my supplies...

Now I can work late at night.. was never happy being in the basement late at night..

in the summer with the air on at night the basement was way to cold to work.. and winter it got to cold to.. now I will be nice and warm..

Here is my son's new room.. this was our second living room... So I took the love seat upstairs but the large pull out coach had to stay but it works well... He loves his room as much as I love mine..

Hello Dear Friends,Let me introduce you to Alex. He is being a big good here. Alex is a beautiful, bright, gentle, young man. He is the son of my Very Best Friend in the whole world. He is 17 years old and has lived more in this short life then most of us can imagine. You see Alex was born with 15 heart defects. The only human being on the planet with all 15 and the only person to live with 6 of the most dangerous and live to tell about it. The right side of his heart has been wired, looped, changed and added to do the work for the whole heart. His left ventricle was small and basically non functioning. Alex has lived through 3 open heart surgeries, a stroke at the age of 5 that left him with some paralysis and a pacemaker at the age of 13. Yet, looking at him you would never know it. The time has come for Alex to need a new heart. He has had all they can do to the one he was born with. The pressure his heart is pumping is causing his lung, liver and arteries to burst holes into them leaking out oxygen. They have all been repaired and this is no longer a option. Alex need a new heart. The next two days are critical. He will under go a battery of tests for the whole two days. His body, mind and spirit will all be tested. After these tests they could simply say (((NO))) he can't have a new heart and that will mean after all this fighting, struggling, and heartache we will loose him. Alex has a circle of family and friends that love him. They include Mom and Dad, 3 brothers, a 7 yr old sister and a nephew. Not to mention my family and I- his extended family as well. I am asking for prayers, happy thoughts or well wishes. What ever you believe, if you could keep this young man at the top of your list I would appreciate it. It is a fight for life, to the death. We can't loose him yet, He has come too far and has helped so many kids like him in the process. He has been the test patient. They have learned so much about a childs heart because of Alex and saved a few because of it. There is still more to learn. He has much to do in his life. He wants to make a difference beyond what he already has.So for the next TWO DAYS please keep him in your thoughts. Thank you from Alex, me and his family. Helpful Info for US residents shipping to Canada FREE TRACKING INFO

Hello everyone I just thought I would share this info with all US residents... you may or may not know this.. but thought I should share for any that don't know this...

When you ship to Canada you have to fill out customs forms either the large white ones or the simple green label that sticks to the boxes..

See the upper left hand corner that is were you find the number for tracking

you will find on both of these forms a sku number like this (CP146262677US) this is the tracking number.. if you enter this number into the USPS tracking service it will tell you were it is.. once it crosses over to Canada you can then start tracking your info in the Canada Post tracking service...

This is what Canada puts on the box once it reaches Canada...

Missing In Action

I have been MIA for a little while seem to be down and out...

I got a tooth filled 3 weeks ago, and well that turned out to me a nightmare... I had pain before the freezing was out and the pain grew and grew.. from 7 pm that night until about midnight I had taken 10 Advil's to get the pain to dull itself down.. I woke up in massive pain after a couple of hours of sleep... this went on for a week and the pain was not going away... I called my dentist two days after telling him the pain was not getting less.. he prescribed pain killers and well that did not even touch the pain either.. so that Saturday (day before Easter) I called the dentist and told him it needed to come out.. He said he could get me in at 5 pm so I sat waiting in pain... my husband drove me back to the city for the appointment .. he broke some speed laws to get me there fast... well as soon as the tooth came out .... NO MORE PAIN... only pain I had after this was a healing pain... I can stand that one... I am to go back to the dentist next Tuesday to have the same tooth pulled on the other side seeings as it would need the same filling... now way I want that pain ever again.. so pulling it will be.. thank goodness they are my back teeth..

And now I have just been down in the dumps.. I went and cleaned and reorganized my shop and made a little painting section.. well I have not wanted to go down although I have a painting I want to start... But I am still taking lessons and well am scared to ruin this one as it is very large...

I am getting some inspiration from the book I bought (The artist Way) this is a wonderful book for inspiration and becoming unblocked..

if anyone has a way of getting out of these funks please let me and other know..

March Break

WINTER SNOW STORM

We were blasted last nigh with heavy blankets of snow..

Snow is my favorite time of year.. I have always waited for the for first sign of winter to put my tree up.. but this year it has come way to early.. I am a Christmas nut, winter is my favorite time of year... I guess because I am a home body and this way I have to stay home..lol.. I love when the ground is covered in a fresh blanket of snow.. don't care much for the sandy dirty snow..

Last nights snow fall brought down many tree limbs and out our back window in the neighbours yard a very large tree was broke in half... Oh and we lost hydro for about 3 hours...

So I spent my morning cleaning up the fallen branches and shoveling the drive way..

Well as many of you know I have spent this past week re doing my shop... clearing out the clutter... sorry pictures are dark but I am in the basement..lol.. so for all that asked to see my work space here you go... now show me yours...lol...

Fall Show

The weather was great we could not have asked for a better weekend...
There were lots of ooohhs and awwwwws in the crowd of people...
our store was filled to the max a few times... I love when that happens because everyone just starts grabbing everything.... Met many new people that did not know we were there.. I would like to say a great big thank you to everyone that came out and enjoyed our treats and my hand mades.. I took yesterday off from work and am wanting to take a few more days but orders need to be filled so I am back at it again today... I am sorry I have no photo's to share I forgot to take up my camera..:(

Well it is almost show time... only one more day ... I will have about 8 more hours tomorrow before I head up to the store... So thought I would post a quick update of what I got done in three days and many many many hours... I am ready for a vacation ... don't mind the mess in the back ground my house has been left while I make my mad dash to get last minute things ready...

This week has been dedicated to sewing and stuffing... show date is 3 weeks away so this week is all about stuffing and sewing... then the next two will be dresses, painting, staining.. all that good stuff .. I did a ruff count have about 25 dolls in there ready to go... I have been working from 8 am to 11 pm... with the normal side tracks, supper, football with my son, and once in a while I take a breath... Back to work...

Another 3 AM

Well last night around 8 I got an urgent email from a lady I sell wholesale to.. She was in dire straights to get some more product, because everything I made for her had sold... so I had to make a mad dash to my store... we decided to spend the night and get the other part of the store done up for the fall show.. well it was 3 AM when I finally hit the hay... 3 hours of sleep is just not cutting it though... it took me a greater part of the week after being up there for the weekend getting the main part of the store done.. I forgot to take some pictures so I will be posted them later on... I am so tired but I think I am on over tired.. also I am waiting on UPS to pick up my wholesale order.. I can't wait for the show to get here so I can get some sleep...lol.. I have been a busy bee thought..I managed to get two of my favorite Santa's done yesterday before we headed up to the store...... I have them for sale on my WSOAPP site.. well these tired eyes are of to sew some dollies lets hope I don't sew my fingers.. lol

I got my package today... good thing as I had just brought in my plants from outside and rearranged my living room... and well as I was doing this I was thinking of my Santa and making sure I made a spot for him...he fits just perfect in his spot... lol

STORE MAKE OVER FOR FALL SHOW

Well it was a very busy weekend for me.. Our Fall Show is about 5 weeks away, so I was up at the store this weekend getting it organized for the show.. Lots of new stock in and we are going to Toronto tomorrow to get more... Friday night I started around 5 and finished the first part of the store at 3 am... next day I added more until we closed then I was back to work on the back room that we add on for the fall show... I got that done around 11pm and then was back it on Sunday for part of the day before we left to come home... I will be going back up to the store on thanksgiving weekend to finish up the other added on room...

I have tried to put these pictures in order of how the store looks... the fist pictures are the front room you walk into ... the second section is the middle room and then the third section is the add on room...

May 19, 2008 marks the 10 year anniversary of my older brothers life...

My brother took his life 10 years ago...

We had troubled childhoods and a broken home...

I believe all of this contributed to my brothers death...

Love is all he wanted but had a hard time finding it...

The Suicide of my Brother

My brother lies cruel and cold today,

He'll never touch another.

My brother lay kind and warm before.

I know I am his sister.

His troubled heart, his bleeding soul,

His tortured body lies,

Yet lived he 35 years,

and now he's closed his eyes.

His friends parade in solemn quest,

Searching the world to find,

Some meaning or some purpose in his tormented mind.
